The Internet has seen incredible growth offering a means of entertainment, education, communication and shopping - with access to virtually any and everything. With so much information available, the questions arise, 'Where do I start when I want to find something specific?' 'How do I perform a search?'
Answer : Search Engines. Learning to use the major Search Engines will make finding almost anything an easy task. The major Search Engines are Google, Yahoo, Ask, AOL, and MSN. Search Engines can be a valuable tool when you have a particular search you want to perform. A few Search Engines will also allow you to refine your search by using their Advance Search options. However, while this will better target your search, it may also eliminate some results that may be of help.
All Search Engines look or search for items based on the search word or string of search words you have typed in the search bar. For example, if you are searching for farm land for sale in Texas and type in simply farm land for sale - you most likely will get results showing land from everywhere. The Search Engine does not discriminate or interpret. It will look at each word as a separate 'search' and list all applicable topics. To focus a search, try typing the search words in quotations marks, ie. "Texas farm land for sale". This will limit your search to this specific string and help eliminate undesired results. Further focusing a search can be accomplished by putting the word 'and' between the strings so that your search might look like "Texas" and "Farm land for sale". This methodology can be applied to any search.

This is a very simplified explanation of Search Engine use and you will find the more you search the easier it becomes. Once you have obtained the results you were searching for, you may want to book-mark or place the pages in your Favorites for future reference thus saving yourself time.
