We've talked about Web 2 and the effects social marketing has had on the Internet. Just in case you've forgotten - social marketing allows the interaction of the Internet visitor to make comments, join a social group, purchase products, opt-in for newsletters and the like, rather than just viewing a static page.

Not only does this make for a more interesting Internet experience, but also offers the owner of the .com the opportunity to make money through the use of blogs, Squidoo pages, hub pages, and submission of relevant articles to various directories. All of these efforts are then interlinked. If you have a passion, are an authority on a particular subject or just enjoy writing, these methods can be used to create your own social marketing plan. This is an 'easy' program in that it can be accomplished from a home office, but don't be fooled into thinking it will be an overnight success. It is a long-term project. It will also require a fair amount of personal dedication and discipline, along with a bit of computer savvy. For more information visit Blog Success.

If you decide you would like to try this out, the program can be set-up through a .com, .net, or .org website using a program called Word Press. Be sure the hosting company offers Word Press. If not, you will have to install it yourself in your site. For those that have an existing site and would like to incorporate some basic social features, check out the new 'Google Friend Connect' program. Right now it is in the Beta format with limited applications.
